This qualification provides an awareness of how and why young people are at risk of poor mental health. The qualification is ideal for young people as well as adults that support young people including teachers, support staff, youth workers and parents. This qualification will give learners personal growth and engagement in learning.

Duration: This qualification is taught over 1 day and has the option of being completed 100% remotely via zoom

You will be taught:

  • What is meant by the term 'mental health'

  • How to recognise the causes and impact of common mental health conditions

  • Why young carers are at greater risk of poor mental health 

  • The impacts of internet gaming and social media on mental health

  • How young people may use harmful strategies to cope with their mental health

  • How to recognise and support a young person in suicidal crisis

  • How to improve resilience in young people to support their mental health

Assessment Structure: 

This course has the option of being assessed by either

  • Multiple Choice Question Test, marked by your tutor

  • Completion of work book (pathway for online students)
